Website FAQs every salon should answer (with example answers)

Customers ask the same questions by phone, DM and WhatsApp every week. Answer them clearly on your website and you'll spend less time replying, get more bookings from people who are ready to go, and give Google and any website chat better information. Here are fifteen questions with example answers to adapt.

How to use this list

Put the answers on a single FAQ page, link it from your menu and booking page, and reuse the same wording in your Google Business Profile and any chat tool. Keep answers short and specific to your salon. Replace everything in square brackets.

Booking and policies

1. How do I book?

Book online any time at [booking link], or call us on [number] during opening hours. We reply to Instagram and WhatsApp messages within [time].

2. Do you take walk-ins?

We take walk-ins for [services] when we have space, but booking is the best way to avoid waiting. Saturdays are usually fully booked.

3. Do I need to pay a deposit?

We ask for a [£ amount] deposit for [services/new colour clients]. It comes off your bill on the day.

4. What is your cancellation policy?

Please give us [48] hours' notice to cancel or move your appointment. With less notice, or if you don't arrive, we may keep your deposit to cover the time we set aside.

5. What if I'm running late?

Please call or text us. We'll do our best to fit you in, but if you're more than [15] minutes late we may need to shorten your service or rebook you.

Prices and payment

6. How much does it cost?

Our full price list is at [link]. Prices for colour and longer hair depend on length and thickness, so we'll confirm the price at your consultation before we start.

"From" prices are fine, but say what affects the final price. Nobody likes a surprise at the till.

7. How can I pay?

We accept card, contactless and cash. [We don't accept cheques.]

8. Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes, in any amount from [£ amount], in the salon or by phone. Vouchers are valid for [12 months].

9. Do I need a patch test?

Yes, for any colour or tint service, including lash and brow tints. We do a quick skin test at least 48 hours before your appointment. It takes five minutes and you can pop in any time we're open.

Follow the instructions of the products you use. Many colour and tint manufacturers require an allergy alert test 48 hours before each application.

10. How long will my appointment take?

A cut and blow-dry takes about [45 minutes]. Full colour takes [2 hours], and highlights or balayage can take [3 hours or more]. We'll give you a time when you book.

11. Do you do children's cuts?

Yes, for children aged [age] and up. Prices are on our price list.

12. Can I have a consultation first?

Yes, free consultations take about 15 minutes and are a good idea before big colour changes or extensions.

In Northern Ireland that includes St Patrick's Day and the Twelfth, so keep your Google hours updated for those.

Where to put your FAQs

Keep it up to date

Review your FAQs whenever your prices, hours or policies change, and at least every few months. Out-of-date answers cause more trouble than no answers at all.
